Overview

The Mexican food that is so popular in the United States today has its roots in the arrival of so many immigrants since the 1940’s.

This inspired a style called “Tex-Mex” food that was associated with the Mexican immigrants that came from Northern Mexico.

    Highly Informative Mexican Cookery Book

    I bought this book recently, because I am curious about Mexican cuisine. I have never been to Mexico, or owned a Mexican cook book, so I knew very little about Mexican cuisine before downloading this book (I know a lot about European Cuisine, American cuisine, Indian and Chinese cuisine).
    This book is really useful – it provides you with information about the history of Mexican cuisine and of individual Mexican dishes, how to make things such as “tortillas” from scratch and different flavours and spices (spices play an important role in Mexican cuisine, so I think it’s really good that the author has provided readers with information about various spices).
    Furthermore, the recipes are absolutely delicious and healthy. There is so much junk food around nowadays, and I try my best to make healthy meals as much as possible.
    The only reason why this book is getting 4 stars, not 5, is that there are not enough photographs in it, in my opinion. I’d never eaten Mexican food until I bought this book, so it would be really useful to have one photo per recipe, so I’d know how these meals are typically served. In addition to this, there are not many vegetarian recipes (I eat fish, but no meat, so most of the food I eat is vegetarian). Surely there must be more traditional Mexican food which is vegetarian!
    In conclusion, the recipes in this book are healthy, very easy and quick to make and they’re very tasty. I recommend this book to people who are not vegetarians and who are looking for tasty new meals to make at home!

    This is the best and easiest Mexican cookbook I have ever read! It also has pictures to show what the food looks like. There are recipes for tortillas and taco shells too! I also loved the information and history about the different dishes and information on spices and herbs used. There are even vegetarian recipes.
