Overview

“Yoga For Beginners: Essential Poses For Yoga Beginners” is a book that outlines the basic yoga poses that a novice can try if they have an interest in starting to practice yoga. The author has made a concerted effort to make everything as simple as possible so that it can easily be understood.
There are many books outlining yoga poses but none is as simple as and easy to understand as this. The book is also well timed as it is being published in a period when persons are seeking various solutions to remain healthy or to get healthy apart from modifying the diet of course.
The book is filled with over thirty illustrations as well as instructions on how to get the poses done. They are all basic poses which would be done in the initial stages of practicing yoga. Before you move on to the intermediate level, the body would be properly conditioned by these poses. Some people may think that they are not very effective but once they start doing the various poses they start to feel the positive effects. Yoga is a nice low impact way to exercise and keep fit. The author knows this and conveys this in her book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Beginners Guide to Yoga
    ByBrian Savianoon March 2, 2013
I have always wanted to try yoga for the many benefits but have always been intimidated for one reason or another. This book breaks it down and makes yoga easy to understand. The book is nicely filled with great colorful pictures that decribe each yoga pose. As a martial arts student, I found that I actually was doing a lot of the moves in this book without knowing it as part of my stretching exercises. This book gives tips how to improve the moves I was doing for maximum results. BTW, just got done trying some of these exercises and my back feels better already.

I got this book on my Kindle so I could get started with Yoga. It is very easy to understand and there are illustrations. They said to hold the poses for like 30 seconds or so; I try and hold the poses for much longer, that seems to produce more significant results. I really like the pose where you bend over at the hips and try and place your hands on the floor. This pose seems to focus on activating the root chakra(base of the spine). When I did that pose for like 5-10 minutes, I could feel a vibration in the base of my spine. I believe that the root chakra is primarily for grounding our consciousness. I believe that humanity is destined for far greater things than merely being grounded, but nevertheless such a pose surely has many uses and applications. I think you will really like this book.
